What was real and what was fantasy?
When Frank and Dora Parker, in their Boston Whaler, are fly-fishing for trout one day in their hometown of Twin Valley, Oregon, ghostly fog begins to roll down from the mountains. With it comes a haunting scenario.
On the lakeshore, a mysterious woman emerges from the forest holding a large knife in her hand. Then a man steps out of the woods dragging, what to Frank Parker appears to be a dead body. However, only he observes this. His wife claims she doesn't see anything except fog and a desolate shoreline. How could that be? How could Frank Parker be witnessing a gruesome murder taking place and his wife, who was there in the boat with him, not see anything?

Wow! This is the best book I have read in a while; and believe me, I am an avid reader! I thoroughly enjoyed this book so much I hated for it to end. I seriously fell in love with the protagonist, an aging man suffering from Alzheimer's and alcoholism. Talk about a flawed hero; this man had so many shortcomings it was ridiculous. Yet, the more this troubled soul admitted to his many character defects, the more loveable he actually became. The plot was nothing short of sheer genius on the part of author John Meany, and I look forward to reading more of his books. The story is basically about a man that witnesses a murder, and has to deal with the fact that everyone is questioning his mental capacity when he reports it. The surprise ending is icing on the cake! This book is also extremely well-written, has a consistent and cohesive theme, and the setting is superbly described so that it places the reader right there with the characters. I have reviewed quite a few books and I've become somewhat selective about what I read. I also can be very blunt concerning my likes and dislikes regarding the books, so my feedback isn't always what the author works want to hear. However, in this instance, all my annoying little peeves and innuendos were surprisingly subdued by the author's sublime talents. This book is a true mystery, complete with ample twists and turns in ALL the right places. I highly recommend this book to all readers of all ages. Excellent job Mr. Meanie!

In The Fog Novel A Murder Mystery eBook John Meany Reviews
A very well written mystery. This book is hard to put down once you start it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries.
Seeing the Killer doesn't help if the police don't believe you. You have all the details of the crime...but the police focus on you as the killer.
This was a decent enough story...a little awkwardly crafted, but it kept me reading to the end. There were a lot of grammatical errors and instances of poor usage, but I didn't find that too distracting. Some of the references to the effects of dementia did not ring true as well, but they weren't really jarring. I did come to care about the characters, but found the wife way too harsh on occasion and for someone in a loving relationship with an Alzheimer's victim. A very fast read.
A good story with a nice twist. When you reached certain age, your mind can be unreliable, and it's very sad when everyone thinks you're loosing it due to illness. An elderly man witnessed something that he didn't remember until a certain scenario triggered his memory. That's when he felt that his life was in danger. He tried to tell his wife and the authority that he saw someone committed a murder, but they didn't believe him because they thought that he's imagining it because he has Alzheimer.
The plot is excellent, but the dialogue is stilted and unnatural. There are a few typos, misspellings and mistakes. I don't know why this is found so often in books, but it seems to be the case. I did finish the book, rushing through the final chapters just to get it done.
Frank and Dora Parker, a couple in their 70s are out fishing in the lake by their house. Frank sees a pretty grisly murder, but Dora doesn’t see it. She thinks he’s either losing his marbles, his Alzheimer’s has taken a turn for the worse or he’s been hitting the bottle. Again. This book by John Meany takes an up close and personal look at this couple. Frank believes what he saw and goes to the cops. Dora doesn’t believe what he saw and calls their grown kids, one of whom is a psychiatrist. The story has suspense, thrills, is a mystery for sure, and is pretty funny in a tragic sort of way.
I got this book because both of my parents died from Alzheimer's & the main character Frank has been an alcoholic & is now suffering the first stage of this terrible disease. My own husband died from Colon Cancer & Alzheimer's so using this guide I wasn't happy with Franks wife for not believing him when he told her he was witnessing a murder. She had very poor eyesight, knew it, yet still she was difficult with Frank preferring to believe he had seen nothing!!! It isn't an easy book to read by any means & I may have read it to soon after my husbands death to appreciate it more. My husband had been married before as I had however he had a daughter & a son from his previous marriage where I didn't. I disliked very much the way Franks wife went behind his back & told their children what her opinion was. I believe she should have made more of an effort to believe in him. The twist at the end was certainly a surprise but the book suffers in places with getting bogged down in Franks actions.
